Carl Coombe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Martyn Penn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23 minutes of play, East London FC's Abraham Lamb made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Although East London FC had been in control for most of the match, Nunthorpe still came away with the win.
