In the 3rd minute Nigel Clayton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perry Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Perry Thomas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nigel Clayton in the 8th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in AFC Riverdene's zone, Keith Winfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Perry Thomas came out of the goal and Keith Winfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Keith Winfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wivenhoe AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Keith Winfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keith Winfield in the 15th minute of play forced AFC Riverdene's goalkeeper Perry Thomas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zack Jobling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dom Milner in the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Dom Milner reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zack Jobling. The goal made the score 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dom Milner in the 31st minute of play forced Wivenhoe AFC's goalkeeper Zack Jobling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 33 minutes, Nigel Clayton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wivenhoe AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nigel Clayton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Perry Thomas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Keith Winfield went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Jermaine Cahill who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Zack Jobling when he managed to save the team from getting behind. AFC Riverdene's Lee Kemp got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jermaine Cahill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gareth Bower fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wivenhoe AFC's protests and gave Gareth Bower a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of AFC Riverdene booed when Wivenhoe AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gareth Bower didn't get a good kick on the ball. The AFC Riverdene players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Wivenhoe AFC were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dom Milner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dom Milner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jermaine Cahill in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zack Jobling prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Keith Winfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Perry Thomas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute of the match Jake Hilton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Perry Thomas skillfully saved the ball. Dylan Gates received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Perry Thomas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dylan Gates during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Keith Winfield struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Perry Thomas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wivenhoe AFC. Wesley Whittaker hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, Keith Winfield got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nigel Clayton in the 96th minute of play forced AFC Riverdene's goalkeeper Perry Thomas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
