In the 12th match minute, Barnes City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Carter to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute of the match Colne City got a corner. Barnes City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jermaine Forrest ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some careless play in the Barnes City defense, Leigh Parkin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Neville. The Barnes City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Neville should have stopped the shot. In the 23rd minute, Enio Prestes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ashley Griffin was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Barnes City's Jonathan Neville played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leigh Parkin in the 27th minute of play. Jonathan Neville showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Will Bower, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Jonathan Neville took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Will Bower, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th match minute, Colne City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvester Guest to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 40th minute by Enio Prestes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Barnes City booed when Colne City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvester Guest didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andrew Stone to make the kick off. Enio Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ashley Griffin having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrew Stone in the 55th minute of play forced Colne City's goalkeeper Ashley Griffin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Barnes City booed when Colne City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Shilton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Colne City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leigh Parkin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barnes City's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Leigh Parkin 93 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. Max Shilton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Jonathan Neville tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Colne City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Colne City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
