Spectators: 6730 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1730, VIP seats: 0) Ashley Lappin started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With a little luck, Southport's Vincent Byfield got control of the ball when Edward Cornish tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ashley Lappin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Colin Cahill scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Victor Alderson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vincent Byfield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ashley Lappin in the 14th minute of the match. Todd Oakes charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Todd Oakes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Southport getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Todd Oakes hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Edward Cornish got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Edward Cornish had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Trowbridge's goal looked a bit too open when Colin Cahill came free, but Victor Alderson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victor Alderson came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Southport's Colin Cahill. But to his dismay, Colin Cahill quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Felix Dyson struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Victor Alderson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Southport. Mike Pointon, 41 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Vincent Byfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Cornish in the 44th minute of play. After some careless play in the Trowbridge defense, Colin Cahill kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Victor Alderson. The Trowbridge fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Victor Alderson should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Felix Dyson to make the kick off. Colin Cahill scored 0-4 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Victor Alderson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vincent Byfield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Cornish, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Trowbridge getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Teddy Butler hit a great ball. Mike Pointon, 70 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 73rd minute Edward Cornish shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vincent Byfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Southport's Felix Dyson got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Colin Cahill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Victor Alderson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ashley Lappin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Colin Cahill came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Southport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Colin Cahill couldn't finish the play. In the 95th minute Ashley Lappin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vincent Byfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 97 minutes into the match, Southport's goal looked a bit too open when Ashley Lappin came free, but Vincent Byfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edward Cornish struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Vincent Byfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trowbridge. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Southport had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
