Terry Colman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tod Norton in the 5th minute of play. Terry Colman made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Darius Mead sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Tod Norton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Openshaw FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tod Norton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terry Colman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Tod Norton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Terry Colman was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. After having played for 14 minutes, Curtis Cooke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newcastle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Curtis Cooke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newcastle's goalkeeper Terry Colman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Tod Norton fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 24 minutes into the game, Darius Mead cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Terry Colman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Openshaw FC booed when Newcastle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marlon Roy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 played minutes Newcastle got a freekick which was hit by Victor Barratt. Terry Colman made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Conan Ansell sent off a good shot on target. If Tod Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tod Norton who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Terry Colman when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Tod Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tod Norton to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Conan Chalk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Openshaw FC and the Newcastle players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Darius Mead had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tod Norton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Terry Colman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terry Colman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tod Norton went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Darius Mead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terry Colman having to interfere. Terry Colman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tod Norton's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Darius Mead managed to get in a good position for a shot. Openshaw FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Darius Mead was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terry Colman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Openshaw FC fully deserved thier win.
