When Ponteland United's Ryan Hubbard, in the 6th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Ponteland United. If Matt Oldroyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 16 minutes, Matt Oldroyd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ponteland United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matt Oldroyd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 0-1 became the score in the 21st minute when Ryan Hubbard elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Liam Long showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Micheal Groom in the 25th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ponteland United's Lewis Wadham got a free kick in the 26th minute. Liam Long made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Micheal Groom in the 27th minute of play. Jim Newbury received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Liam Long tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Matt Oldroyd came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Ponteland United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matt Oldroyd couldn't finish the play. 47 minutes into the game, Leo Clarke recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Liam Long. Leo Clarke showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Matt Oldroyd got free with Ian Longstaff in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Harry Bourton charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harry Bourton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 56th minute, Harry Bourton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ryan Hubbard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Ponteland United's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
