With a little luck, Manchester United fc's Nicky Lancaster got control of the ball when Jim Newbury tried to sneak it across the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Manchester United fc fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! Nicky Lancaster made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Micheal Groom in the 67th minute of play. After 68 played minutes Manchester United fc got a freekick which was hit by Larry Sewell. 73 minutes into the match, Hartlepool's goal looked a bit too open when Han Collen came free, but Ian Longstaff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ian Longstaff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mick Marshall, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Micheal Groom in the 81st minute of play forced Manchester United fc's goalkeeper Nicky Lancaster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute of the match, Jim Newbury got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nicky Lancaster was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Hartlepool's Ian Longstaff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andre Harding in the 86th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Han Collen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ian Longstaff. Hartlepool's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Han Collen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. 94 minutes into the game, Andre Harding cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-3. Ian Longstaff was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Manchester United fc were victorious despite being under pressure from Hartlepool for much of the match.
