Jerome Cawood kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Andy Wicks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 27 minutes into the game, when Christopher Longthorn put in a rough tackle. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for North Petherton United! 0-1 became the score in the 32nd minute when Robin Nancy elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 35th minute Andy Wicks shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerry Crichton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Robin Nancy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matthew Llyod received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Darren Hitchcock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Devizes's Darren Hitchcock got control of the ball when Olly Sissons tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robin Nancy to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Kristopher Fairbank got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 58 minutes into the game, Kristopher Fairbank was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. North Petherton United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Devizes the free kick. In the 59th minute, Devizes's Andy Wicks dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. An unexpected shot in the 68th minute by Andy Wicks got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 73 played minutes Devizes got a freekick which was hit by Bill Haylock. Matthew Llyod recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 85 minutes, Robin Nancy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Devizes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robin Nancy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Devizes had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
