Kristian Turner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Denis Grantham having to make a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Denis Grantham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huey Godfrey in the 51st minute of play. In the 57th minute Ged Bostock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caleb Markham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Caleb Woodcock put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Caleb Markham. 63 minutes into the match, Newcastle-under-Lyme's Damon Bryant broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.
