Spectators: 6714 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1714, VIP seats: 0) Sandy's Ib Kierch started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Philip Jennings kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. In the 4th match minute, Ironville City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caleb Eglington to maneuver through the defense. After 5 minutes, Sean Dobson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ironville City and the Sandy players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 5th minute, Sean Dobson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ib Kierch was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 6th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 8th minute of the match Martyn Howarth shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laurence Goodman showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 16th minute of the match Benji Gardner sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laurence Goodman skillfully saved the ball. Lewis Thompson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With 20 minutes on the clock, Denzil Perkins commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Joaquim Macedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laurence Goodman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. If Joaquim Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Sandy's goal looked a bit too open when Vic Wiley came free, but Ben Scott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 29 played minutes Sandy got a freekick which was hit by Stuart Murphy. After having played for 32 minutes, Joaquim Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sandy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Macedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ironville City's zone, Stuart Murphy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurence Goodman came out of the goal and Stuart Murphy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Laurence Goodman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Sandy's Ben Scott got control of the ball when Lewis Thompson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joaquim Macedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laurence Goodman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vic Wiley to make the kick off. Joaquim Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Laurence Goodman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 55th match minute, Sandy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martyn Howarth to maneuver through the defense. In the 57th minute Lewis Thompson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ben Scott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laurence Goodman was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Joaquim Macedo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 61 minute of play. In the 80th minute Joaquim Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Goodman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandy's Martyn Darby got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sandy's Martyn Howarth got a free kick in the 91st minute. 92 minutes into the match, Ironville City's Wayne Dudgeon broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sandy's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
