In the 34th minute Hayden Rowell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Albright saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ralph Redwood-Turner who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 46thth minute tested the skills of Daniel Fitzsymon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Ashbourne getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Simon Kitchen hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hayden Rowell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Wickersley booed when Ashbourne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kelvin Corby didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucas Inman was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 81st minute. Wickersley's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 81st minute, Ashbourne's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Hayden Rowell fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Wickersley's Lucas Inman got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paul Albright stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hayden Rowell's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. In the 88th match minute, Wickersley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leroy Nowland to maneuver through the defense. Luke Fawell hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. If Ralf Lock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ashbourne were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Wickersley for a fine match.
