An unexpectedly hard shot by Darius Burbeary in the 10th minute of play forced Golders Green United's goalkeeper Gary Boulding to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 15 minutes of play, Berwich FC's Jeff Dunn made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gary Boulding was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Jeff Dunn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gary Boulding was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After 40 minutes of play, Berwich FC's Jeff Dunn made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gary Boulding was left in no man's land by his defense there! 47 minutes into the match, Jeff Dunn had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gary Boulding. Golders Green United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jeff Dunn was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-1 at half-time.

Ivan Clark made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerry Kerridge in the 57th minute of play. When Dale Shilton fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Golders Green United's protests and gave Dale Shilton a yellow card for diving instead. Dale Shilton hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Darius Burbeary was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 63rd minute Darius Burbeary shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gary Boulding saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darius Burbeary in the 65th minute of play forced Golders Green United's goalkeeper Gary Boulding to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Berwich FC's George Grainger sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gary Boulding narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Bobby Tinker reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ivan Clark. The goal made the score 6-2. After some careless play in the Golders Green United defense, Darius Burbeary kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gary Boulding. The Golders Green United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gary Boulding should have stopped the shot. Ivan Clark took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerry Kerridge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gary Boulding made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darius Burbeary in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Darius Burbeary left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Berwich FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-2. Darius Burbeary recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 94th minute Darius Burbeary shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gary Boulding saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berwich FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
