Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Moreton's Allan Murphy started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Dalton In Furness United's Kenny Frost got a free kick in the 3rd minute. When Allan Murphy came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Moreton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allan Murphy couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Gwyn Renwick put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Shawn Warden. After having played for 13 minutes, Danny Larham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moreton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danny Larham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danny Larham got free with Tyrone Seal in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute Allan Murphy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tyrone Seal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 minutes, Jimmy Huxtable mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moreton and the Dalton In Furness United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Allan Murphy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gwyn Renwick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gus Budge's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shawn Warden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gus Budge in the 45th minute of play forced Moreton's goalkeeper Shawn Warden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 played minutes Moreton got a freekick which was hit by Nigel Winfield. After the first half Dalton In Furness United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gwyn Renwick to make the kick off. The supporters of Moreton booed when Dalton In Furness United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnnie Frost didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57thth minute of the game Gwyn Renwick who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Moreton's Shawn Warden was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Murphy in the 62nd minute of play forced Dalton In Furness United's goalkeeper Tyrone Seal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Sol Rushmere fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Moreton's protests and gave Sol Rushmere a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Moreton booed when Dalton In Furness United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Hanley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Shawn Warden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gwyn Renwick, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Allan Murphy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Tyrone Seal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Danny Larham made a precise shot to the right of Tyrone Seal. Dalton In Furness United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Dalton In Furness United walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
