Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Daryl Marsden made the kick off and thus started the match. 4 minutes into the match, Daryl Marsden had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeo Gamble. Newton on Ouse's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daryl Marsden was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Romeo Gamble took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daryl Marsden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute, Rodd Gamble made a precise shot to the right of Lenny Constantine. Padiham's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Daryl Marsden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Romeo Gamble took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daryl Marsden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pat Holdcroft sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the match, Padiham's Daryl Marsden sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeo Gamble narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Newton on Ouse's zone, Daryl Marsden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeo Gamble came out of the goal and Daryl Marsden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 41 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Padiham's Daryl Marsden fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Charlie Holt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lenny Constantine read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charlie Holt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pat Holdcroft received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Romeo Gamble tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Daryl Marsden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romeo Gamble was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Daryl Marsden put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Romeo Gamble. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daryl Marsden in the 60th minute of play forced Newton on Ouse's goalkeeper Romeo Gamble to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daryl Marsden took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Romeo Gamble. Romeo Gamble dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. When Russell Butterworth fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Padiham's protests and gave Russell Butterworth a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th minute, Russell Butterworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodd Gamble who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 78thth minute tested the skills of Lenny Constantine when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Padiham getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Norman Musgrove hit a great ball. Charlie Holt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Lenny Constantine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pat Holdcroft sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeo Gamble showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daryl Marsden in the 84th minute of the match. 85 minutes into the game, Ralf Titmuss was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newton on Ouse's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Padiham the free kick. In the 85th minute, Ralf Titmuss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Daryl Marsden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romeo Gamble was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Romeo Gamble came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Padiham's Daryl Marsden. But to his dismay, Daryl Marsden quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Padiham walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
