Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Chesney Vassell started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th minute, Chesney Vassell fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Wes Dryden, passed just outside the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Newnham City's zone, Darren Peake stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oscar Bannister came out of the goal and Darren Peake tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. St Neots's Wes Dryden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chesney Vassell in the 12th minute of play. If Paul Hilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gregory McGrath's late challenge caught a St Neots's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregory McGrath helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes, St Neots's Edward Heslop shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oscar Bannister came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in St Neots reached it. Chesney Vassell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Garry Corrigan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newnham City's supporters rose to their feet, but Garry Corrigan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wes Dryden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 31st minute, Garry Corrigan fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Wes Dryden, passed just outside the right post. When Chesney Vassell came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Newnham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chesney Vassell couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute Darren Peake shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Bannister saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute Chesney Vassell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wes Dryden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Paul Hilton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Oscar Bannister. Newnham City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paul Hilton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paul Hilton to strike the kick off in the second half. Wes Dryden came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Newnham City's Chesney Vassell. But to his dismay, Chesney Vassell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. When Chesney Vassell came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Newnham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chesney Vassell couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Newnham City's Oscar Bannister got control of the ball when Darren Peake tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wes Dryden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chesney Vassell's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Darren Peake fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Bannister having to interfere. Russ Coburn kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Wes Dryden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chesney Vassell, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Chesney Vassell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Wes Dryden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, St Neots's goal looked a bit too open when Garry Corrigan came free, but Wes Dryden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Garry Corrigan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wes Dryden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chesney Vassell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
