Nailsworth FC's Carlton Towler couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 12th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Shoeburyness. If Zaq Tompkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brian Edmonton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. Nailsworth FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Zaq Tompkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Nat Gamble tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Shoeburyness's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Brian Edmonton scored to the left of an out of position Nat Gamble, making the score, 1-1. In the 25th match minute, Shoeburyness was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basil Pallister to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Shoeburyness's goalkeeper Nat Gamble, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nat Gamble made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zaq Tompkins in the 30th minute. Garry Foster hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Nat Gamble took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brian Edmonton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Brian Edmonton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brian Edmonton succeeded in the game's 39th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. In the 45th minute Brian Edmonton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nat Gamble saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pete Silvester stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Shoeburyness's Andy Green shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 53rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Danny Blewett but with some difficulty. Nat Gamble made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaq Tompkins in the 54th minute of play. When Joshua Rowe fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nailsworth FC's protests and gave Joshua Rowe a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes Nailsworth FC got a freekick which was hit by Joshua Rowe. When Shoeburyness's Pete Silvester in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Nailsworth FC's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Shoeburyness booed when Nailsworth FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simeon Sollit didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pete Silvester in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Danny Blewett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nat Gamble showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Edmonton, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 68 played minutes Nailsworth FC got a freekick which was hit by Theo Frampton. 70 minutes into the match, Nailsworth FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pete Silvester came free, but Danny Blewett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Danny Blewett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pete Silvester, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Shoeburyness's Andy Green got a free kick in the 77th minute. Shoeburyness's Nat Gamble played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaq Tompkins in the 82nd minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Shoeburyness's goal looked a bit too open when Zaq Tompkins came free, but Nat Gamble reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Brian Edmonton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nat Gamble was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. If Brian Edmonton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
