Fred Tanner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricky Kershaw in the 4th minute of play. In the 6th minute, Noel Cutts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 9 minutes on the clock, Reg Lane commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The goalkeeper, Gwyn McDermot, was totally fooled by Barnetby Le Wold FC's Kasey Woodcock, who 11 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Ricky Kershaw struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Fred Tanner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gillingham Town. Barnetby Le Wold FC's Fred Tanner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luke Woolcock in the 25th minute of play. Ricky Kershaw might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fred Tanner. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ricky Kershaw ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Barnetby Le Wold FC's zone, Bernardo Helfer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fred Tanner came out of the goal and Bernardo Helfer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Bernardo Helfer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Barnetby Le Wold FC's Gwyn McDermot threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Henry Emberson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gillingham Town's Bernardo Helfer got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 43 minutes, Calvin Bowler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gillingham Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Calvin Bowler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bernardo Helfer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Henry Emberson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gwyn McDermot having to interfere. Henry Emberson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Gwyn McDermot tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henry Emberson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Alex Giugno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calvin Bowler in the 56th minute of play forced Barnetby Le Wold FC's goalkeeper Fred Tanner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernardo Helfer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After taking down the ball on Gillingham Town's corner Ralph Frost fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Fred Tanner quite easily take care of the ball. If Ricky Kershaw had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricky Kershaw sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fred Tanner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ricky Kershaw went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 94 minutes, Bernardo Helfer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gillingham Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardo Helfer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Calvin Bowler came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Gillingham Town fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calvin Bowler couldn't finish the play. Despite being the better team, Gillingham Town failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
