With a little luck, Dunston's Johnathon Hickson got control of the ball when Rio Brent tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 23 minutes, Pierre Courtney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Withernsea City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre Courtney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute, Dunston's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rio Brent fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The attack was good, but when Pierre Courtney in the 26th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 27th minute, Ivan Wilmott hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pierre Courtney in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johnathon Hickson saved Dunston from getting behind. After 31 played minutes Dunston got a freekick which was hit by Martyn Kirk. After a defensive mix-up in Dunston's zone, Jay Gamble stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnathon Hickson came out of the goal and Jay Gamble tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rio Brent came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Withernsea City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rio Brent couldn't finish the play. An unexpected shot in the 73rd minute by Harry Wroe got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Sean Spann charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sean Spann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ian Croxford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harry Wroe in the 75th minute of the match.
