Spectators: 6712 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1712, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mike Watts kicked off to start the match. In the 6th match minute, Ludlow was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Todd Robins to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute Daniel Marriot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lance Partridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Ludlow was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tyrone Beardsley to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mike Watts in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wayne Saville prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivor Marston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wayne Saville having to interfere. Vic West kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Ivor Marston might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wayne Saville. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ivor Marston ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Ludlow defense, Daniel Marriot kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lance Partridge. The Ludlow fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lance Partridge should have stopped the shot. 42 minutes into the match, Ludlow's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Marriot came free, but Lance Partridge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mattias Thurman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Lance Partridge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Marriot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Marriot stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mattias Thurman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Lance Partridge when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ludlow's Lance Partridge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Ludlow from getting a goal against them. Newark's Daniel Marriot got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ludlow getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Vic West hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivor Marston in the 66th minute of play forced Newark's goalkeeper Wayne Saville to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wayne Saville showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivor Marston in the 70th minute of the match. Mattias Thurman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ludlow's Lance Partridge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Ludlow from getting a goal against them. Mike Watts took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wayne Saville. Wayne Saville dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mike Watts in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wayne Saville prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Marriot kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lance Partridge. That made the score 1-2 in the 90 minute of play. Lance Partridge made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Mattias Thurman sent off a good shot on target. The Newark supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Newark would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
