Ed Paterson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Wes Draper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Redhill's Dominic Clay proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Redhill from getting a goal against them. Barry Rundell charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barry Rundell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Barry Rundell kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 23rd match minute, Waterlooville United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Downing to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Waterlooville United's Dave Bensley got a free kick in the 28th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ed Paterson in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wes Draper saved Waterlooville United from getting behind. 41 minutes into the match, Redhill's goal looked a bit too open when Travis Davison came free, but Dominic Clay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Travis Davison in the 48th minute of play forced Redhill's goalkeeper Dominic Clay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Redhill were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Travis Davison made a kick off. After 57 minutes, Travis Davison made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Redhill's Dominic Clay tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 64 minutes, Fred Downing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Waterlooville United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Downing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Fred Downing had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dominic Clay. Redhill's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fred Downing was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After some careless play in the Redhill defense, Fred Downing kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dominic Clay. The Redhill fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dominic Clay should have stopped the shot. In the 78th minute, Dave Burns reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Wes Draper. The goal made the score 3-2. A collision led to Waterlooville United getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Simon Stockley hit a great ball. Dave Bensley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dominic Clay having to interfere. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Redhill's goalkeeper Dominic Clay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Wes Draper made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Tommy Hopgood sent off a good shot on target. Tod Elvins hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Dominic Clay didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Waterlooville United's Fred Downing shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 4-2 in the ordered_time% minute. Redhill's Dominic Clay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Travis Davison in the 97th minute of play. Waterlooville United's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
