Gav Knowles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wally Branson went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Gav Knowles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ted Scriven, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ted Scriven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Gav Knowles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ted Scriven got free with Gav Knowles in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sammy Blunt during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 47 played minutes Hebden Bridge got a freekick which was hit by Sammy Blunt. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
