Seating: 1730, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Vince Wallbank made the kick off which started today's match. After 2 played minutes Birmingham got a freekick which was hit by Jason Pollock. Ash Kay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Beinn Blain's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Beinn Blain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vince Wallbank received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Garry Beavan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Steven Webb in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ash Kay saved Bolton City from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Bolton City's zone, Beinn Blain stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ash Kay came out of the goal and Beinn Blain tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Birmingham's Beinn Blain slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ash Kay. That made the score 1-0 after 24 minutes of play. In the 27th minute Vince Wallbank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garry Beavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Bolton City getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Charles Renwick hit a great ball. Steven Webb in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ash Kay, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Steven Webb managed to get in a good position for a shot. Birmingham's supporters rose to their feet, but Steven Webb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ash Kay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ashley Howlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garry Beavan having to interfere. If Beinn Blain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Bolton City booed when Birmingham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jason Pollock didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bolton City's Vern Downs couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 46th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Birmingham.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Beinn Blain stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Paddy Pope charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paddy Pope the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ash Kay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Beinn Blain's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. After 72 minutes, Felix Platt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bolton City and the Birmingham players grew even worse after the yellow card. During the 74th minute of the match Paddy Pope completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Paddy Pope a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 75 played minutes Bolton City got a freekick which was hit by Paddy Pope. The crowd rose to their feet as Bolton City's Ashley Howlett slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Garry Beavan. That made the score 1-1 after 79 minutes of play. Bolton City's Ash Kay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beinn Blain in the 84th minute of play. Beinn Blain blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ash Kay having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Steven Webb's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ash Kay was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Steven Webb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Ash Kay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beinn Blain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Ash Kay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
