Austen Leslie came out of the goal and Ash Butterfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benjamin Wells kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. When Gwyn Winterbottom came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Bradford FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gwyn Winterbottom couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dom Haxby in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charlie Jones saved Sheffield from getting behind. Austen Leslie was a little too slow when Phil Preston got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 14th minute. The score was now 1-0. After having played for 18 minutes, Gwyn Winterbottom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bradford FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gwyn Winterbottom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sheffield's Charlie Jones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dom Haxby in the 20th minute of play. In the 24th minute of the match Sheffield got a corner. Bradford FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Steven Woodhall ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 30 played minutes Sheffield got a freekick which was hit by Gavin Carey. If Phil Preston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robert Hopton kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Dom Haxby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Austen Leslie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavin Carey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dom Haxbys short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Charlie Jones to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bradford FC's Austen Leslie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gavin Carey in the 66th minute of play. Charlie Jones had in the 72ndth minute some difficulties stopping Harry Dryden's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 75th minute, Phil Preston got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gavin Carey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Austen Leslie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gavin Carey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Will Whiteley kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Austen Leslie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil Preston, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. If Phil Preston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
