Hull FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Shane Worrall was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Shane Worrall sped through Hull FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Berdaitz Ibanez. After 32 minutes, Byron Cox mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hull FC and the Alsager AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Hull FC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Byron Cox hit a great ball. Alistair Boyd struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Kenny Kyle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hull FC. In the 39th minute of the match CJ Quantrill sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Berdaitz Ibanez skillfully saved the ball. Berdaitz Ibanez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shane Worrall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th minute Fraser Thomas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berdaitz Ibanez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Hull FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Alsager AFC were winning 1-2.

When Fraser Thomas came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Alsager AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fraser Thomas couldn't finish the play. Damion Fairs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Kenny Kyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hull FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Alsager AFC for a fine match.
