Worksop's Alfie Newman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caleb Holdcroft in the 18th minute of play. Waterloo City's Tyrone Long proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Waterloo City from getting a goal against them. Caleb Holdcroft hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. A collision led to Waterloo City getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Billie Whittington hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Deon Ainge could shoot a difficult shot in the 27th minute, which Tyrone Long however easily saved by the left post. John Paul Gaskell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfie Newman having to interfere. Terry Wilkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Alfie Newman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 32 played minutes Worksop got a freekick which was hit by Donald White. George Macken received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Caleb Holdcroft's late challenge caught a Worksop's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Harvey Timiney made a kick off. Alfie Newman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Paul Gaskell, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. With his leg Alfie Newman managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Waterloo City's George Macken fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling John Paul Gaskell in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfie Newman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Terry Wilkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Alfie Newman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62ndth minute of the game John Paul Gaskell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Worksop's Alfie Newman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Terry Wilkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. John Paul Gaskell struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Alfie Newman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Waterloo City. Terry Wilkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 68 played minutes John Paul Gaskell rounded Worksop's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. When Terry Wilkins came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Waterloo City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Terry Wilkins couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Waterloo City's Grant Dibb got a free kick in the 84th minute. Deon Ainge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Tyrone Long tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waterloo City's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
