Brad Cryer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gus Wing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gus Wing scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brad Cryer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 19 minutes into the match, Hillhead City's goal looked a bit too open when Philip Granger came free, but Kevin Fearns reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Piers Nethercot could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Kevin Fearns made a huge save. 25 minutes into the game, Hillhead City's Stefan Eldridge nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Brad Cryer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Warren Sherwood lost his temper 28 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 28th minute, one of Werrington:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Werrington. Brad Cryer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ted Fitzgerald, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gus Wing made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Robert Blythe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute Gus Wing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brad Cryer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, George Morcom was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillhead City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Werrington the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Hillhead City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Werrington:s goal. Gus Wing's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brad Cryer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Stefan Eldridge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stefan Eldridge struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Brad Cryer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hillhead City. Brad Cryer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gus Wing in the 74th minute of the match. Stefan Eldridge could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Brad Cryer made a huge save. Stefan Eldridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Brad Cryer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chesney Southgate took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 91st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kevin Fearns. Hillhead City's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hillhead City played a much better game than Werrington and deserved their victory. The Werrington players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
