Acton FC's Paddy Maxwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Noble in the 9th minute of play. If Johnnie Tompkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Acton FC's goalkeeper Paddy Maxwell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Paddy Maxwell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johnnie Tompkins's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. If Karl Cole had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Noble got in the 32nd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Paddy Maxwell handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Johnnie Tompkins to make the kick off. Johnnie Tompkins struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Ronny Jenkins hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Austin Hilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Cole in the 68th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, David Noble managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wimbledon's supporters rose to their feet, but David Noble was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paddy Maxwell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Karl Cole in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Austin Hilton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Austin Hilton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karl Cole's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. David Noble who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Paddy Maxwell when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Karl Cole received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Austin Hilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paddy Maxwell made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when David Noble sent off a good shot on target. David Noble might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paddy Maxwell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Noble ran back to his position shaking his head. Johnnie Tompkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paddy Maxwell having to interfere. Karl Cole fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Austin Hilton having to interfere. Wimbledon's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
