In the 12th minute, Aaron Chadwick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Parsons fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicholas Parkinson having to interfere. Carl Blains short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Nicholas Parkinson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Tom Winship showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lance Crichton in the 18th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Edward Parsons's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicholas Parkinson was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Caleb Brady was slow to take the kick. During this time Stanley's players had a chance to rest. The crowd rose to their feet as Edward Parsons kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nicholas Parkinson. That made the score 2-1 in the 42 minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Stanley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Blain to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edward Parsons to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Stanley's Bradley Fry got a free kick in the 75th minute. 76 minutes into the game, Penzance's Joel Kyle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom Winship made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. Penzance's Nicholas Parkinson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Parsons in the 81st minute of play.
