Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) A collision led to Sandhurst getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Teddy Sheldon hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jake Newton in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jimmy Fielden prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jimmy Fielden stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jake Newton's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Sid Simms managed to get in a good position for a shot. Durham FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sid Simms was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jimmy Fielden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Durham FC's Kyle Dimmock got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rex Cooper fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sandhurst's protests and gave Rex Cooper a yellow card for diving instead. When Durham FC's Jake Newton in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sandhurst's goalie prevented a goal. David Renwick hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Jimmy Fielden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Simms, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute, Jake Newton made a precise shot to the right of Jimmy Fielden. Sandhurst's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After having played for 41 minutes, Kyle Dimmock managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Durham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kyle Dimmock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jake Newton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Sid Simms managed to get in a good position for a shot. Durham FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sid Simms was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jimmy Fielden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Durham FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Jake Newton made the kick off in the second half. Marty Woodford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rex Cooper in the 59th minute of play. In the 64th minute, Danny Longden made a precise shot to the right of Marty Woodford. Durham FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Sid Simms could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Jimmy Fielden made a huge save. Jimmy Fielden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jake Newton, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sandhurst's zone, Jake Newton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Fielden came out of the goal and Jake Newton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rex Cooper came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Sandhurst fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rex Cooper couldn't finish the play. After 86 played minutes Sandhurst got a freekick which was hit by Rex Cooper. It was a brilliant solo performance by Durham FC's David Renwick when he shot the ball into the net to 1-2 in the 95th minute. Durham FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
