In the 7th match minute, High Wycombe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stu Parkinson to maneuver through the defense. Zane Payne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sacha Stride, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Matthew Dumpleton fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Southsea's protests and gave Matthew Dumpleton a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Southsea's Matthew Dumpleton got a free kick in the 12th minute. Ozzy Shephard struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Jay Lampard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for High Wycombe FC. Verne Blackhurst's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jay Lampard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Stu Parkinson kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Dylon Cardwell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zane Payne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Verne Blackhurst in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jay Lampard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Southsea's Dylon Cardwell got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zane Payne came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Southsea's Dylon Cardwell. But to his dismay, Dylon Cardwell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dylon Cardwell to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Verne Blackhurst in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jay Lampard saved Southsea from getting behind. 55 minutes into the match, Southsea's goal looked a bit too open when Ozzy Shephard came free, but Jay Lampard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zane Payne was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Sacha Stride capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sacha Stride really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. Verne Blackhurst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Ozzy Shephard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jay Lampard was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Verne Blackhurst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 81 minutes into the game, Ozzy Shephard cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Jay Lampard was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zane Payne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. High Wycombe FC's Zane Payne proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save High Wycombe FC from getting a goal against them. Sacha Stride received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Zane Payne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sacha Stride had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Southsea had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
