Ronan Brayson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rod Cookson, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Rod Cookson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Great Ayton` FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rod Cookson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronan Brayson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 11 minutes into the game, Frazer Venables was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Simians Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Great Ayton` FC the free kick. Frazer Venables kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the game, Simians Athletic's Adrian Mimms nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nathanial Hardcastle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ronan Brayson came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Great Ayton` FC's Adam Gettins. But to his dismay, Adam Gettins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Pat Addison charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pat Addison the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th minute, Pat Addison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Larry Waller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nathanial Hardcastle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Mimms in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cliff Oliver in the 30th minute of play forced Great Ayton` FC's goalkeeper Nathanial Hardcastle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronan Brayson made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Adam Gettins sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Great Ayton` FC booed when Simians Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ed Marler didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Simians Athletic's Frazer Venables got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 48th minute, Simians Athletic's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Adam Gettins fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.

Adrian Mimms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathanial Hardcastle having to interfere. Adrian Mimms struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Nathanial Hardcastle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Simians Athletic. Nathanial Hardcastle was out of position in the 58 minute of play, and Larry Waller capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Larry Waller really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. In the 61stth minute of the game Adrian Mimms who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Great Ayton` FC's Nathanial Hardcastle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cliff Oliver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Nathanial Hardcastle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronan Brayson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Great Ayton` FC. A collision led to Simians Athletic getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Frazer Venables hit a great ball. Simians Athletic played a much better game than Great Ayton` FC and deserved their victory. The Great Ayton` FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
