Vernon Butterfield charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vernon Butterfield the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Vernon Butterfield hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, Perivale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Les Ridsdale came free, but Alistair Peat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garry Folan in the 9th minute of play forced Perivale FC's goalkeeper Alistair Peat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13thth minute of the game Les Ridsdale who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Perivale FC's Alistair Peat was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Battle FC's Reuben Swain got a free kick in the 15th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Perivale FC's zone, Les Ridsdale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alistair Peat came out of the goal and Les Ridsdale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Les Ridsdale came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Battle FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Les Ridsdale couldn't finish the play. In the 21stth minute of the game Les Ridsdale who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Perivale FC's Alistair Peat was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Perivale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Les Ridsdale came free, but Alistair Peat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Jo Ford managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perivale FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jo Ford was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barney Blewett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 35 minutes of play Perivale FC's Vernon Butterfield was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 36 played minutes Perivale FC got a freekick which was hit by Vernon Butterfield. Les Ridsdale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alistair Peat having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Battle FC's Reuben Swain got a free kick in the 45th minute. Simon Campbell hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jimmy Ramsden made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Perivale FC's zone, Les Ridsdale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alistair Peat came out of the goal and Les Ridsdale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute, Les Ridsdale reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alistair Peat. The goal made the score 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Battle FC's zone, Jimmy Ramsden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barney Blewett came out of the goal and Jimmy Ramsden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Perivale FC's Alistair Peat proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Perivale FC from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simon Campbell during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Perivale FC's Alistair Peat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Les Ridsdale in the 72nd minute of play. When Jo Ford fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Perivale FC's protests and gave Jo Ford a yellow card for diving instead. Jo Ford kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 78th match minute, Perivale FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timothy Dale to maneuver through the defense. Battle FC's Les Ridsdale got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Perivale FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Timothy Dale hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lennie Glasby in the 88th minute of play forced Perivale FC's goalkeeper Alistair Peat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Garry Folan made a precise shot to the right of Alistair Peat. Perivale FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Alistair Peat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Les Ridsdale, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the match was over Battle FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Perivale FC throughout the match.
