In the 8th match minute, Hove FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marty Howden to maneuver through the defense. Niall Marsden got in the 9th minute the ball and tried a long shot which scored to the left of Mitch Mallaby and thus it was 1-0. In the 12th minute, Damian Salmon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hove FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Hove FC booed when Runcornsdf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sean Kennedy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niall Marsden might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mitch Mallaby. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niall Marsden ran back to his position shaking his head. Runcornsdf's Callum Bartlett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Salmon in the 46th minute of play. Mitch Mallaby made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niall Marsden in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rob Howard was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Damian Salmon got free with Callum Bartlett in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 60 minutes, Sean Kennedy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Runcornsdf's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sean Kennedy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mitch Mallaby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rob Howard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Mick Hartley took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Callum Bartlett to make any attempt to save it. In the 67th minute of the match Max Flack sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Callum Bartlett skillfully saved the ball. In the 71st minute Sean Kennedy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitch Mallaby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damian Salmon took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Callum Bartlett. Callum Bartlett dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. In the 78th minute, Hove FC's Charles Pearch dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. In the 83rd minute of the match Piers Vaughan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mitch Mallaby skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 87 minutes, Charles Pearch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
