The player immediately received a yellow card. Austin Leadbeater hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Archie Gilchrist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Al Coton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Al Coton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marlon Currie's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. In the 19th minute, Archie Gilchrist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Archie Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Victoria United booed when Cranbrook AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Clarkson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Archie Gilchrist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rowan Cross made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carl Henry in the 40th minute. Marlon Currie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Al Coton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. 42 minutes into the game, Victoria United's Marlon Currie nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Al Coton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Victoria United booed when Cranbrook AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shane Coburn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dion Crichton kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. The Cranbrook AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Shane Coburn to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Cranbrook AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Marlon Currie came free, but Al Coton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gav Mowlem took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rowan Cross. Victoria United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Archie Gilchrist received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Al Coton came out and tried to block the shot, but Archie Gilchrist slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 60th minute. If Archie Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute Marlon Currie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Al Coton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Archie Gilchrist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Coton having to interfere. Archie Gilchrist might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Al Coton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Archie Gilchrist ran back to his position shaking his head. Al Coton made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Archie Gilchrist sent off a good shot on target. Cranbrook AFC's Al Coton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Cranbrook AFC from getting a goal against them. Carl Henry took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rowan Cross. Rowan Cross dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 86 minutes into the match, Carl Henry notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Victoria United's Rowan Cross. Rowan Cross was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Cranbrook AFC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
