Ray Dudgeon who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 10thth minute tested the skills of Duncan Willetts when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 17th minute, Ray Dudgeon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Neil Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Norton in the 31st minute of play forced Hadleigh United's goalkeeper Duncan Willetts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Ray Dudgeon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Running Ducks fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Neil Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wes Meade came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Hadleigh United's Nat Robson. But to his dismay, Nat Robson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Neil Norton made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Hadleigh United's goal looked a bit too open when Neil Norton came free, but Duncan Willetts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Duncan Willetts was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 84 minutes into the game, Kris Hoskins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Duncan Willetts was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ray Dudgeon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Duncan Willetts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neil Norton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute, Trevor Hartley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duncan Willetts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neil Norton in the 98th minute of the match. The supporters of Running Ducks booed when Hadleigh United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ryan Newman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Running Ducks walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
