Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Stuart Illingworth kicked off to start the match. Frank Flower fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gav Bayliff having to interfere. After 6 minutes, Jamie Woodman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lilywhites and the Oakengates players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jamie Woodman kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Zane Renwick struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Gav Bayliff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lilywhites. When Stuart Illingworth came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Oakengates fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stuart Illingworth couldn't finish the play. Loyd Delaney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Jerry Barton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Lilywhites booed when Oakengates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wally Boyle didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Stuart Illingworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stuart Illingworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jerry Barton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stuart Illingworth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 47 minutes of play, Lilywhites's Frank Flower made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gav Bayliff was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Lilywhites were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zane Renwick to make the kick off. Lilywhites's Jerry Barton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loyd Delaney in the 57th minute of play. After 58 minutes, Luke Kerr mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oakengates and the Lilywhites players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Oakengates's Luke Kerr got a free kick in the 58th minute. With a little luck, Oakengates's Gav Bayliff got control of the ball when Frank Flower tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gav Bayliff made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Frank Flower sent off a good shot on target. When Frank Flower came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Lilywhites fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Flower couldn't finish the play. Stew Holland kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Frank Flower didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-2 via right post in the game's 66th minute. Lilywhites's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Frank Flower recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zane Renwick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gav Bayliff having to make a save. In the 76th minute Zane Renwick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gav Bayliff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Frank Flower managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lilywhites's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Flower was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gav Bayliff breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Oakengates's Wally Boyle got a free kick in the 79th minute. Lilywhites's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marc Sutton in the 81st minute. The corner ended in Marc Sutton almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Oakengates's Gav Bayliff did a great save. Gav Bayliff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Flower in the 84th minute. Stuart Illingworth might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerry Barton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stuart Illingworth ran back to his position shaking his head. If Stuart Illingworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the match, Lilywhites's goal looked a bit too open when Stuart Illingworth came free, but Jerry Barton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jack Love hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Loyd Delaney recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Lilywhites players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
