Barmby on the Marsh
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Rick Tinker started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Hayden Little struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Rupert Barrett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barmby on the Marsh. In the 7th minute, Rick Tinker ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roy Harris was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 10 played minutes Barmby on the Marsh got a freekick which was hit by Craig Tindale. The supporters of Blackburn City booed when Barmby on the Marsh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Craig Tindale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gareth Waltham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Rupert Barrett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Doug Stone mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Blackburn City and the Barmby on the Marsh players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rupert Barrett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hayden Little, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gareth Waltham was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 32nd minute. Barmby on the Marsh's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Roy Harris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Goodall in the 36th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rick Tinker in the 39th minute of play forced Barmby on the Marsh's goalkeeper Roy Harris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rick Tinker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roy Harris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Rick Tinker notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Barmby on the Marsh's Roy Harris. Roy Harris was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Doug Stone kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gareth Waltham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gareth Waltham struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Hayden Little recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Dave Hurdle fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blackburn City's protests and gave Dave Hurdle a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Blackburn City! The referee gave Barmby on the Marsh a penalty, 62 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Leo McDonald, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Blackburn City's Rupert Barrett. 1-2. Blackburn City's Dave Hurdle suffered a sore thigh after 69 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 69 minutes into the game, Gareth Waltham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barmby on the Marsh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blackburn City the free kick. Gareth Waltham hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Barmby on the Marsh's Roy Harris proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Barmby on the Marsh from getting a goal against them. Craig Tindale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Craig Tindale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Gareth Waltham's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rupert Barrett was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. In the 79th minute, Doug Stone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gareth Waltham struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Rupert Barrett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barmby on the Marsh. 84 minutes into the match, Hayden Little had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rupert Barrett. Blackburn City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hayden Little was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Rupert Barrett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hayden Little in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th match minute, Blackburn City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rick Tinker to maneuver through the defense. Blackburn City succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Barmby on the Marsh had controlled the match.
