The crowd rose to their feet as Staveley AFC's Cliff Langley slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vince Piercy. That made the score 0-5 after 53 minutes of play. After 56 minutes, Malcolm Wise mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Staveley AFC and the South Shields players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 56 played minutes Staveley AFC got a freekick which was hit by Malcolm Wise. After 58 played minutes South Shields got a freekick which was hit by Cliff Stockdale.
