Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Cliff Langley made the kick off which started today's match. The supporters of Barmby on the Marsh booed when Staveley AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garth Platt didn't get a good kick on the ball. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Staveley AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Leo McDonald was slow to take the kick. During this time Barmby on the Marsh's players had a chance to rest. After having played for 9 minutes, Hayden Little managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barmby on the Marsh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hayden Little was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roy Harris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tom Alsop in the 13th minute of play. Tom Alsop fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roy Harris having to interfere. After 21 played minutes, Barmby on the Marsh's Leo McDonald shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jerome Barber came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Barmby on the Marsh reached it. Staveley AFC's Jerome Barber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip McGovern in the 23rd minute of play. If Gareth Waltham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Tom Alsop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roy Harris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gareth Waltham might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerome Barber. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gareth Waltham ran back to his position shaking his head. 40 minutes into the match, Cliff Langley had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roy Harris. Barmby on the Marsh's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cliff Langley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Hayden Little in the 44th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Jerome Barber kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-1 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Hayden Little fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerome Barber having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gareth Waltham made a kick off. Craig Tindale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Jerome Barber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roy Harris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tom Alsop in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Philip McGovern in the 59th minute of play forced Staveley AFC's goalkeeper Jerome Barber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Philip McGovern fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerome Barber having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Barmby on the Marsh's Craig Tindale got a free kick in the 66th minute. Barmby on the Marsh's Roy Harris proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Barmby on the Marsh from getting a goal against them. Tom Alsop's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Roy Harris firmly grabbed it by the left post. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Staveley AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
