When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, CJ Dry took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Rio Short to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, CJ Dry managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southall's supporters rose to their feet, but CJ Dry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rio Short breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The tension between the Hailsham and the Southall players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 played minutes Hailsham got a freekick which was hit by Sid Wardle. Hailsham succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Southall had controlled the match.
