Andrew Gamble sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerry Birch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marty Johnstone in the 14th minute of the match. After having played for 15 minutes, Marty Johnstone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Firsaga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marty Johnstone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 16 minutes into the game, Alistair Hitchcock was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ilkeston FC Champ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Firsaga the free kick. In the 16th minute, Alistair Hitchcock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andrew Gamble in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gerry Birch, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Andrew Gamble fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Birch having to interfere. Ilkeston FC Champ's Gerry Birch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Ilkeston FC Champ from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marty Johnstone in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gerry Birch prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andrew Gamble might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gerry Birch. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andrew Gamble ran back to his position shaking his head. Marty Johnstone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Ilkeston FC Champ getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Alistair Hitchcock hit a great ball. Firsaga's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcus Rider in the 41st minute. The corner led Firsaga's Marcus Rider to fire away a dangerous shot which Gerry Birch despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marty Johnstone made a kick off. Firsaga's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcus Rider in the 53rd minute. Firsaga walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
