Malcolm Sledge hit a great ball. 0-2 became the score in the 12th minute when Cliff Cox elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Crowngate's Reggie Nicholson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cliff Cox in the 18th minute of play. Reggie Nicholson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cliff Cox, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Crowngate! Simon Spurgeon scored 0-3 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reggie Nicholson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roger Dryden stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Crowngate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roger Dryden was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6.
