The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Philip Heath ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastien Hume was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vern Tisdale in the 10th minute of play forced Firsaga's goalkeeper Sebastien Hume to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Barnsley's Dom Jones sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastien Hume narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Firsaga's Marty Johnstone dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After having played for 25 minutes, Dom Jones managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barnsley's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dom Jones was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 27 minutes into the game, Firsaga's Andrew Gamble nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Will Bowland made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. 31 minutes into the match, Barnsley's goalkeeper Will Bowland had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andrew Gamble. Marty Johnstone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Will Bowland tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Firsaga booed when Barnsley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vern Tisdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Philip Heath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th match minute, Firsaga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quentin Berry to maneuver through the defense. Sebastien Hume showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philip Heath, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Marty Johnstone made the kick off in the second half. Marty Johnstone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vern Tisdale hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. The Firsaga fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Firsaga's Marty Johnstone looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 62nd minute of the match Jay Fisher sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Will Bowland skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Barnsley's Vern Tisdale got a free kick in the 63rd minute. 68 minutes into the game, Donald Trotter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Firsaga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barnsley the free kick. A collision led to Firsaga getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Donald Trotter hit a great ball. Robbie Houlahan hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the game, one of Barnsley:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 80th minute there was a penalty for Firsaga. Marcus Rider stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Will Bowland. 4-1. Marcus Rider took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Will Bowland. Barnsley's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 96th minute Quentin Berry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Bowland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Andrew Gamble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Firsaga's Andrew Gamble got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Firsaga were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Barnsley for a fine match.
