After 18 played minutes Dean Goodman rounded Wallsend AFC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. In the 21st minute, Andre Gayle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ozzy Chilton was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 29 minutes into the match, Kirk Hargreaves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ozzy Chilton. Upwell's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kirk Hargreaves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Ozzy Chilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Hargreaves in the 35th minute of the match. Andre Gayle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wallsend AFC's Andre Gayle got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kirk Hargreaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Upwell's goalkeeper Ozzy Chilton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Luke Pope came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Upwell fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luke Pope couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Dean Goodman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dane Gibbons. That made the score 2-2 in the 48 minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Ozzy Chilton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Hargreaves in the 54th minute of the match. Andre Gayle's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ozzy Chilton firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, Upwell's Walter Culverhouse got a free kick in the 61st minute. When Steve Fenton fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wallsend AFC's protests and gave Steve Fenton a yellow card for diving instead. Dean Goodman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dane Gibbons tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dean Goodman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Upwell's Ozzy Chilton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Upwell from getting a goal against them. Luke Pope blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dane Gibbons having to make a save. Upwell's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
