Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 0) Jeffrey Mellon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Max Hume, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. When Max Hume came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Shrewsbury fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Max Hume couldn't finish the play. If Romeo Higgins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luke Barnett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeffrey Mellon having to interfere. In the 19th minute Max Hume shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeffrey Mellon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luke Barnett kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. After 27 minutes of play, Shrewsbury's Max Hume made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeffrey Mellon was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pedro Budden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luke Barnett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jeffrey Mellon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Max Hume came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Shrewsbury fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Max Hume couldn't finish the play. Duncan Capes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fraser Read in the 38th minute. When Romeo Higgins fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Co Durham FC's protests and gave Romeo Higgins a yellow card for diving instead. Romeo Higgins kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. A collision led to Co Durham FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Archie Hassell hit a great ball. Co Durham FC's Jeffrey Mellon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luke Barnett in the 45th minute of play. The supporters of Shrewsbury booed when Co Durham FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Higgins didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luke Barnett made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Shrewsbury's goal looked a bit too open when Andrew Batty came free, but Duncan Capes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luke Barnett struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Jeffrey Mellon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shrewsbury. In the 61stth minute of the game Fraser Read who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Shrewsbury's Duncan Capes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Shrewsbury's Owen Stone got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Fraser Read managed to get in a good position for a shot. Co Durham FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fraser Read was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duncan Capes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Pedro Budden's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Duncan Capes was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. Max Hume fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeffrey Mellon having to interfere. After 78 minutes, Andre Neville mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Co Durham FC and the Shrewsbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Co Durham FC! Stew Joynes walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Duncan Capes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fraser Read in the 83rd minute of the match. Pedro Budden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shrewsbury's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
