Kirk Hargreaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeffrey Mellon having to interfere. If Kirk Hargreaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Co Durham FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kirk Hargreaves 19 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Jeffrey Mellon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andre Gayle in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Jeffrey Mellon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kirk Hargreaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Co Durham FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Romeo Higgins hit a great ball. Andre Gayle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jeffrey Mellon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeffrey Mellon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kirk Hargreaves's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Kirk Hargreaves might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jeffrey Mellon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kirk Hargreaves ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 61st match minute, Wallsend AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vince Graydon to maneuver through the defense. There was no doubt that Wallsend AFC were the better team. Wallsend AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
