In the 17th minute Karl Dunne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dylan Button saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl Dunne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dylan Button made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Adrian Hehir sent off a good shot on target. Vincent Spencer hit a great ball. Prescot FC's Dylan Button proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Prescot FC from getting a goal against them. Dylan Button made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Adrian Hehir sent off a good shot on target. Matt Purvis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Neil Law to make the kick off. In the 79th minute Adrian Hehir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dylan Button saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Neil Law dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dane Aldridge, 2-1. Dom England hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Dylan Button showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl Dunne, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 94th minute, Adrian Hehir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Matt Purvis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Liverpool's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
