The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Mansfield Town got a freekick which was hit by Ollie Hallam. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Glen Tomlin managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Solihull FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Glen Tomlin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The North Solihull FC fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when North Solihull FC's Sidney Ginn looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 24 minutes into the game, Mansfield Town's Kirk Rhodes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sacha Chipperfield made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Kirk Rhodes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st match minute, North Solihull FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glen Tomlin to maneuver through the defense. Barney Burns charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barney Burns the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Ginn in the 39th minute of play forced Mansfield Town's goalkeeper Tommy Beale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Kirk Rhodes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Glen Cornishs short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Sacha Chipperfield to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kirk Rhodes to strike the kick off in the second half. Glen Tomlin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Glen Tomlin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tommy Beale firmly grabbed it by the left post. Sidney Ginn could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Tommy Beale made a huge save. Glen Cornish took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sacha Chipperfield. Sacha Chipperfield dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Vic Bush struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Tommy Beale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for North Solihull FC. Kirk Rhodes might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sacha Chipperfield. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kirk Rhodes ran back to his position shaking his head. Sidney Ginn's late challenge caught a Mansfield Town's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sidney Ginn helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to North Solihull FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Sidney Ginn hit a great ball. If Kirk Rhodes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 73 played minutes North Solihull FC got a freekick which was hit by Glen Tomlin. Sidney Ginn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Tommy Beale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Kirk Rhodes sped through North Solihull FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sacha Chipperfield. Sidney Ginn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Glen Tomlin might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Beale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Glen Tomlin ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Ginn in the 98th minute of play forced Mansfield Town's goalkeeper Tommy Beale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the North Solihull FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mansfield Town.
