Radcliffe-on-Trent
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Piers Pell started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Ginn in the 3rd minute of play forced Radcliffe-on-Trent's goalkeeper Guy Gerrard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 4th minute, Sidney Ginn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Glen Tomlin in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guy Gerrard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Ginn in the 6th minute of play forced Radcliffe-on-Trent's goalkeeper Guy Gerrard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Radcliffe-on-Trent getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Jeff Mellon hit a great ball. After 14 played minutes North Solihull FC got a freekick which was hit by Ian Reeve. Kris Halliday kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Piers Pell in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sacha Chipperfield saved North Solihull FC from getting behind. After 28 minutes of play, North Solihull FC's Sidney Ginn made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guy Gerrard was left in no man's land by his defense there! Piers Pell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Sacha Chipperfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidney Ginn in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guy Gerrard saved Radcliffe-on-Trent from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ian Reeve during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in North Solihull FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glen Tomlin in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guy Gerrard saved Radcliffe-on-Trent from getting behind. Sacha Chipperfield made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Jo Palmer sent off a good shot on target. After the first half North Solihull FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sidney Ginn was the one to do the kick off. With his leg Guy Gerrard managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when North Solihull FC's Glen Tomlin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jo Palmer scored 1-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sacha Chipperfield, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 59th minute, Piers Pell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Sidney Ginn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Guy Gerrard managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when North Solihull FC's Glen Tomlin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 82nd minute, Jo Palmer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sacha Chipperfield was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. The audience was convinced that Sidney Ginn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Guy Gerrard was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jo Palmer in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sacha Chipperfield prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sidney Ginn was extremely unlucky when he, in the 91st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a rather tough play, Radcliffe-on-Trent's Keiran Halliwell got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in North Solihull FC's zone, Piers Pell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sacha Chipperfield came out of the goal and Piers Pell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Radcliffe-on-Trent's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
