After 25 minutes, Larry Gallacher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tufnell Park and the Sunderland FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 39th match minute, Tufnell Park was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conal Rigg to maneuver through the defense. Conal Rigg took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Iain Pollard. Iain Pollard dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Conal Rigg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Pollard having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Alfie Kennedy made the kick off in the second half. Conal Rigg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Iain Pollard made a huge save. Conal Rigg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Iain Pollard when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 64th minute of the match, Conal Rigg got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iain Pollard was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Conal Rigg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 69 minutes, Alfie Kennedy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tufnell Park's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfie Kennedy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Iain Pollard was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alfie Kennedy showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 75 minute of play. Conal Rigg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Pollard having to interfere. In the 83rd minute of the match, Conal Rigg got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iain Pollard was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfie Kennedy in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iain Pollard saved Sunderland FC from getting behind. Alfie Kennedy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Pollard having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Tufnell Park's Jude Corrigan got a free kick in the 95th minute.
